This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR and other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

Overview 

The AHA’s BLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings or for those in a healthcare training program.

In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. Audience

Course Content

100% classroom training means students are with an AHA instructor for their entire learning experienceThis course teaches basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings, with a focus on high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics. The BLS Provider Course teaches rescue techniques for adults, children, and infants.

In the BLS Provider update Course, students will practice:

• High-quality BLS for adults, children, and infants • Use of an AED
• Effective ventilation using a barrier device
• Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants
• High-performance teams

Course Format

To complete this course and receive your BLS course completion card, students must do the following:
• Participate in hands-on interactive demonstrations of high-quality CPR skills
• Pass the Adult CPR and AED Skills Test
• Pass the Infant CPR Skills Test • Score at least 84% on the exam

Course Completion Card

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course electronic Completion Card is valid for two years.
